Camp Manitou in NYTimes

The NY Times spoke to us last week about incorporating healthy food options in a boy’s camp menu. The reporter asked, will active boys eat vegetables?

Today, this story is featured in the NYT Dining Section and includes a handful of wonderful camps with healthy food initiatives. Manitou’s farm to table program, which incorporates vegetables from local Maine farms into meals and the salad bars, has been a hit with both campers and staff. The education on the value of this effort will continue with more discussion and feedback from our campers.

It is exciting to see that Manitou is not alone in this effort to promote, and deliver, nutrient rich meals to children; many camps believe in matching it’s healthy and active lifestyle with healthy food.
