Manitou Teen Leadership Weekend & Conference

An eager group of Manitou’s teen Leaders traveled to NYC this past weekend for a couple days of leadership training and education. On Saturday, a group comprised of campers, counselors, directors and Alum, met for dinner and some quality discussion about the Leadership opportunities and advantages that Manitou provides. Many in the group attended an engaging conference on Sunday, highlighted by a outstanding keynote presentation. Participants heard from professionals who are current and formers leaders at the following top companies: DoSomething.org, Derek Jeter’s Turn2 Foundation, Tumblr, NBC and CBSSports. All of them developed their leadership and life skills at camp. A couple of the panel speakers are Manitou and Experience Camps alum!

Several goals were set for the weekend…

• Provide our teens with leadership skills they can use at school and in their home community.
• Give them skills that will help them at camp.
• Offer a perspective on leadership, communication, and professionalism that will help reevaluate, and articulate, camp as the life changing experience it truly is.
• Open discussion with Manitou directors that will help shape the Leadership program and community service opportunities for the summer.
• Have a fun weekend with camp friends.
